A note from our owner, Angelique
When I took over this salon, it was a big moment in my life. I was grateful for the many loyal clients from the previous ownership who welcomed me with open arms and supported this new chapter. Your kindness meant more than you know.
But I would be lying if I said the journey started without challenges.
There were people who questioned the change simply because the new owner was Asian. Some even asked if the salon was “turning into a chop shop.” Words like that carry weight. Especially when you’ve grown up being bullied for the colour of your skin or the race you belong to.
I remember once, at a young age, someone had said to me: “no one will ever love you unless you bleached your skin”.
That was cruel.
Now, as an adult, I thought I would be behind discrimination like that. Especially in my own salon. It was disappointing to know that the transition of ownership had hateful backlash.
But the beauty of it is, experiences like that shaped me. They taught me how deeply discrimination can hurt and how important it is to stand up against it.
As an adult, and as the new owner of this space, I have a voice. And I choose to use it.
This salon will always stand for inclusivity, empowerment, and diversity. Every client and every team member deserves to feel safe, respected, and welcome here.
No one will ever feel the way I felt. Discrimination of any kind will never be tolerated in this space. Not now, not ever.
